Berlin hosts more and more trade fairs, watch this place!

The coming fashion week in July promises to hit the record as the busiest ever. Premium, Bread & Butter, Green Showroom, COLLECT, Designer Scouts, projektGALERIE, TheKEY.TO – to name but a few trade fairs will be joined by two platforms just announced their Berlin premiere.

The royal wedding is just around the corner (we cannot wait!), and with estimated two billion people watching when Kate Middleton says "I do", it is with no question THE society event not to be missed.

Although the details of the wedding dress still remain top secret (our money is on Alexander McQueen!), milliner Philip Treacy will design hats for the wedding party. As irony would have it, we have scheduled our book interview with Edsor Kronen, one of the oldest tie manufacturers in Germany (founded in Berlin in 1909!), on the International Women’s Day, March 8th. For those in the know – that day used to be a big deal in our native Russia, and we still have some emotional sentiments towards it.  Having own tie made on that day would mean a few things – our final liberation from traditions that make little sense, whatever..  That was the first time Natasha has seriously regretted the fact she is a girl: a tie, it proofed, can change every man’ life to a better within seconds, and the best part of it – effortlessly. Yes! She literally did fall in love with Edsor Kronen ties, and finally got her own made under exact strict cutting and tailoring guidelines. While the template is machine sewn, the final lining and the seam are always hand-finished, a guarantee that a tie (made from the finest Italian silk!) will be long-lasting. read more

If you don't dress up for Giorgio who would you dress up for?

Neulich hatten wir ein Interview mit Melissa Drier, einer amerikanischen Journalistin, die vor 25 Jahren aus New York nach Berlin umgezogen ist. Melissa berichtet auf Englisch für eine Fachpublikation Women's Wear Daily und unterstützt lokale Designer mit beeindruckendem Einsatz und Know-How. Wir sprachen über Straßenbild Berlins und positive Änderungen in dem Modeempfinden der Hauptstadtbewohner. Melissa erzählte eine wunderbare Geschichte. Sie wurde zu der Retrospektive von Giorgio Armani eingeladen, die 2003 nach dem New Yorker Guggenheim-Museum auch in der Berliner Nationalgalerie Station machte. Und Melissa tat es im Stil. Sie war erstaunt zu sehen, dass sie ziemlich die einzige unter den hochkarätigen weiblichen Gästen war, die ein Cocktail-Kleid getragen hat. Nicht dass sie empört oder sehr überrascht war, schließlich sprachen wir immer noch über die ungezwungene und eigenartige Weise der Berlinerinnen, die sie auch schätzte.
