20.000 visitors attended the Berlin Gallery Weekend. Nevertheless, the only gallery with a waiting line in front was probably the Neugerriemschneider, which showed the work of Ai Weiwei. Only the laziest one has not yet used the name of the Chinese artist for self-promotion.

Ai Weiwei was supposed to move to Berlin and that was all arranged. However, the plan was thwarted by the beautiful but heavy arm of Chinese justice. Just before leaving China for Berlin, Ai was detained and vanished in thin air.

"Where is Ai Weiwei" reads a banner on the facade of Neugerriemschneider Gallery in a courtyard in Berlin - Mitte, as well as announcements on the windshields quite some cars cruising the borough. For sure, he was not attending the opening of his exhibition, just as he has foreseen. That’s why he prepared the composition of the exhibition to the last detail beforehand, so the gallery can build it up at any event.

The exhibition is serene, Zen, contemplative. The sculptural works Tree and Rock, consist of large porcelain rocks, white with a typical blue trim, as well as two trees, composed out of different parts, in a traditional Chinese manner.

The porcelain rocks made us think of an old game – knucklebones. The game, where five knucklebones should be thrown up and caught in various ways, is believed to be of Asian origin and the predecessor of dice.
