This weekend we have revisited your exhibition, which has opened on Thursday in the Haus am Waldsee. During the opening it was difficult to watch the videos, as the museum was packed. The show is swell! It is perfectly orchestrated and au contraire de the puck from your video we think that you definitely do belong in this house!

Live Action Hero is the first profound exhibition of Bjørn Melhus’ video works in a German institution. Works from different periods are skilfully arranged in such a way, that they communicate with each other, generating new meanings. The visitor is immediately sucked into the surrealistic world overloaded with visual and audio input. The eerie feeling is supported by cosiness of the museum, which is situated at the lake in the park, surrounded by other bourgeois villas.

The main video installation occupies the ground floor of the museum. It includes two large video-projections facing each other, as well as a mosaic of flat-screens with pictures and text. In most of the films protagonists are played by the artist. The works use stylistics of reality-shows, Lynch’s and old-school science fiction movies, news and children programmes.
